Autumn weddings are gaining in popularity: mild weather, beautiful scenery and harvest’s bounty make it the perfect choice.
Choosing a marquee allows you to be close to nature but also keep your guests warm as night falls.
Here are our top tips for an autumn marquee wedding.
Autumn colours
When thinking about colour, the rich autumn tones make a wonderful base for your wedding. Traditional rust colours work well on their own, but think about combining them with one of our pastel linings.
One of our favourite combinations is a classic cream lining and wooden tables highlighted with a vibrant orange and pink. This allows colour pops in your decorations… but if pink isn’t your thing look out for traditional blue hydrangeas to complement the wood and orange.
Keeping your guests warm
For extra warmth, a marquee can be lined and heated. An entrance hallway can be added to keep the heat in, but don’t forget that the days remain warm and fire pits make a lovely feature for guests to enjoy.
What can be more romantic than sitting under the stars by an open fire with friends wrapped in a fluffy blanket toasting marshmallows and drinking hot chocolate.
Lighting to impress
For lighting you can really let your imagination run wild. With the nights drawing in, think about lighting trees with festoon lamps and coloured up-lighters so they twinkle and shine. Use vintage light bulbs to line your banqueting tables or perhaps hanging lanterns to create a magical dining experience.
The location
The great thing about a marquee is that we can erect it pretty much anywhere that is flat. Woodlands are beautiful at this time of the year, the soft light enhances the rich colours of the turning season.
But don’t forget that sea temperatures can be some of the highest of the year, and with Devon and Somerset having some of the most spectacular coast in the country, an autumn wedding by the sea can be beautiful.
